Today was a gorgeous spring time day and we took full advantage of it. We packed a spontaneous picnic lunch and picked up Daddy Lion on our way to Little Lion's "favorite park". Now this park is not the newest or even the most exciting park we have in our town.
However, it has ducks! So, therefore, it is his "favorite park". He even has a "favorite duck" that we have to somehow separate from the rest to feed exclusively. We do not visit this park often, I would never go without my hubby or some other adults (if that tells you anything). Besides the very strange looking ducks (I'm sure they have cross-bred with chickens or turkeys ~ it's so disgusting looking ~ I can hardly bear to look at it), there seem to lots of transients at this park too.
I digress! We did not even feed the ducks today. Just played a little on the playground and ate a quick lunch before we had to get Daddy Lion back to work. After a quick run into to Wal-Mart, well can any Wal-Mart stop really be quick. I was going in for milk and somehow ended up with $30 worth of stuff! And probably would have had more had Little Pumpkin not begun to show signs of a melt down. We didn't reach full melt, but wow we were close.
After a short rest time for Little Lion and cleaning up his room (which I'm not entirely sure how it got so messy during "rest time" ~ oh well, he was quiet and in his room), he asked to play cars. I said why don't we go outside instead. (Knowing that tomorrow is going to be rainy and 5o's I really wanted to get in all the fresh air we could, yes we even get cabin fever in the south!)
That was a no go for my little indoor kinda boy. We really need to get him into some outdoor activities!
So we made a compromise: we each picked 2 cars and headed outside to play. This was a huge success.
Since I was taking pictures, Little Lion wantd to also. So here is one of his from today. (I really am kicking myself for not getting him the camera for Christmas!)
I even got him to ride his bike again and we went down the "bumpy road". Which entails a very large hill and for my little scaredy-cat who thinks pedalling more than twice in a four foot stride is going fast this was a huge accomplishment! Granted it took forever with him slamming his breaks every 6 inches, but we made it. And I made sure to make a HUGE deal out of how proud I was of him going that far and not giving up! (Daddy Lion showed up in his truck while we were out and he wanted so badly to put that bike in the back and ride with Daddy.)
All in all, a fun day with the much needed fresh air!
