The past three years for Mother's Day we've broken from the norm.
We don't stand in line at Red Lobster anymore.
We don't try to keep our kids hushed at Olive Garden anymore.
We don't speed through lunch at Outback because our kids are "done"
We don't rush home to get the kids to nap.
We don't do dishes all afternoon.
Three years ago I surprised Mommy Lion with a picnic lunch at a new park built in town by Neil McCoy. Things went really well, Little Lion enjoyed it, and there was no mess to clean up. The only thing missing was a stable commode. Little Lion just hugged a tree!
This year we did the same, Little Pumpkin was old enough to play along, got zapped by static on the swirly slide, got bark mulch in her sandals, the whole thing was great.
Even better was that Mommy Lion invited Magnum, she was alone for the afternnon since Doc was working. That meant that Little Lamb & Gator got to join us for the fun and Quizno's subs!

Magnum???? Really.....just how did your never stopping mind come up with that one?
ReplyDeleteYou guys all look great, can't wait to have you here in Oregon with us in a little over three weeks. By the way we did go to Red Lobster, didn't have to wait at all, and had a great time. Of course we didn't have any Little Lion or Little Pumpkin types with us, just teenagers and up. It is a neat tradition to have of going tothe park on Mother's Day, & and enjoying children and friends.

I love this concept. We did the same... no crazy lines at restaraunts, no keeping the kids entertained & being totally stressed by lunch end, just Aaron, the kids and I after church eating sandwiches. It was precious & I wouldn't trade it!
ReplyDeleteI so enjoy reading your Blogs!!!
Speaking of Magnum....any news yet?! I know that today is the day! (right?!)
