What's On?

It's not that Mommy Lion doesn't live with us anymore . . . she's just busy. Digital scrapbooking. Learning PhotoShop Elements 5. She'll be back someday, probably.

In the mean time, I'm eyeing the old computer in th attic again! The kids are watching "Magenta Comes Over" (if you don't know what that is, the question below will probably not be answerable).

We've started looking at Sattelite TV, may Dish Network, maybe Direct TV, they're both just more expensive than we want right now. Each one has multiple tiers with more and more garbage thrown in. Here come's the question.

What do your kids watch? I mean that you're proud of! Maybe I ought to say it this way: What shows do you like your kids to watch? If it's PBS, we can get that with the base package, plus $5 for local channels. If it's Noggin, we'd need to pay a bit more, and I just don't see it happening. Depending on the provider, Nickelodeon is in the bottom tier, but I'm not really sure I want my two year old watching Nick. From what I see of cartoon network, I'm not usre it's for us either.

What channels do YOU get that we should try to get for Little Lion & Little Pumpkin? Is it defininately worth it to get a premium package so that we can get THAT channel?

  1. We do not get any TV reception at all. Not even PBS or local news. We buy boxed DVD set of Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, Gomer Pyle, The Andy Griffith Show, Tales from Avonlea, etc. and watch 3-4 a week. Between those and educational shows we borrow at the library, we get more than enough TV. It is cheap too. Obviously the library part is free (as long as we return on time ;) ) but the boxed sets we buy off Amazon and sometimes resell when we are done or use as gifts for cousins birthdays or Christmas. (We are tacky regifters.)

  2. My nephew loves Playhouse Disney on the disney channel in the mornings. Has shows such as Mickey Mouse clubhouse, Imagination Movers (Little lion will enjoy this show), Handy Manny and many others. My sister records the shows and then always has something good for Rhett to watch if nothing appropriate is on.

  3. My kids love the Playhouse Disney channel. We do the TIVO thing and then can pick what they are watching.

  4. I wrote a long post earlier and it gave me an error... Sounds like you are having fun with the digital scrapbooking. Lonnie had to 'bring back' our old computer so he had some computer time too.

We love the Disney Channel and DVR is the way to go if you get a satellite.

  5. How funny that you are eying the old computer. We also have been talking another computer. Between myself, Mark and a daughter who also wants to digital scrapbook, there is almost not enough time.

As I have older children, I'm sure their favorites won't help. However, Playhouse Disney on the Disney channel was a favorite. Especially shows like "Little Einsteins" and "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse".

  6. Even though we don't have kids in the house as you know, we do enjoy Animal Planet, National Geographic Channel, The Game Show Network, ESPN, Fox News (The only news channel that isn't owned by the liberals), and Versus so that Grandma M can watch her Bull Riding. If you can wait a month and a week, we will be bringing our Satellite Dish with us and the Dish network will be yours to evaluate for 4 or 5 weeks.
