Another first!

Today was Little Pumpkin's first haircut. I mean trim! *grin*

I'm so bummed I forgot to take a before shot of the back of her hair. No fear, she is usually up for anything new!

Mrs. Virginia did a great job with her! I must say it was a much better experience than Little's Lion's first haircut. But one must factor in that there was a, hmm, 3 year difference in age! *grin*

Mrs. V gave her a quarter for doing so well. . . . She never gives me a quarter. Must work on my behavior at the beauty shop! *wink* She promptly went to the candy machine to get her 5 peanut M&M's! Geez, I would've expected that many for a penny! Boy, times have changed!

You can tell she is quite proud of her new "do"! She wouldn't let me "fix" it; she never wants it down usually. So glad it was such a good experience. Something tells me she'll be much more opinionated the next time we go for a cut!

(It was about two inches off the back!)

On the first day of the first grade . . .

I'm pretty sure that's some silly song, but it makes a great blog title for today!

Just like his Daddy: the GQ pose!

Now, please tell me, can school be that bad already?

All I'm asking for is a smile!?!

Ok, I'll take it! Even if his tongue pushing through his toothless gap and at least he looks happy!

I've prayed all summer for Little Lion's teacher this year. I know he and Mrs. L will have a great year!

Galveston vacation

So we loaded up Grandma & Grandpa's RV and headed south: Beach or Bust!!! It didn't take us long to hit the beach ~ the four of us went and explored right away. Tuesday we headed to Schlitterbahn; with fish for kids we could have spent the whole week there. Wednesday was Moody Gardens; we did the aquarium pyramid and the butterfly tent. What a blast that was. Wish we could have done more of the pyramids . . . another reason to go back. We all headed down to the beach before dinner. Thursday found us at NASA. Not the most fun for me, however the kids had a blast on the play structures. I will say the very last show we saw was really interesting and informative; there was an actual docking happening while we were in there. Friday we headed to Houston. Our only night in a hotel. After relaxing inside the hotel a little we grabbed a quick dinner and headed to Minute Maid Park. Quite the dilemma: who to cheer for when Astros are playing the Rangers!?! Rangers won big. After the game they opened the dome and had an awesome firework display! We slept in (as much as possible with little kids) Saturday then hit the hotel pool before hitting the road again . . . no place like home!

Catching up . . . Almost there!

Okay, June (don't forget to scroll down for end of May posted earlier today!). Little Lion finished up school and Little Pumpkin, G'ma and I went to the zoo with MOPS. We celebrated G'pa & G'ma's anniversary, Father's day and G'ma's b-day this month. Our weekends were filled with Alley Fest, Father's Impact at Martin Creek State Park and then just some normal summer fun at the local splashpark. For the "run" down on the AlleyRun check out Mer's blog!

We did take a week vacation with G'ma and G'pa in the RV. I'll post it's own slide show later!

End of May

Instead of trying to post about each event, I'm putting the end of May in a nutshell! We had a great visit with my dad. (Unfortunately I didn't take enough pics.) Little Lion had field day at school and did a great job! Daddy Lion's parents arrived and we had a huge family reunion on my mom's side.

Coming soon . . .June!

2 Lost 3

(I had a reader, who shall remain nameless, who didn't understand the title of these two posts. This one was to play off of the previous title, and be a tongue holding transformation of "Two Lost Teeth". I thought I had explained it below, but apparently my reader didn't quite get it!)

Little Lion had dealt with it just about as long as a six year old could!

It hurt too much to push on, was too loose to leave alone, and worst of all, he couldn't eat corn on the cob at all!

Dental Floss, tight knot, he got it all but a little bit with his yank, then daddy Lion yanked it out the rest if the way.

The Toothe Fairy left ten dimes! He She sure is nice! He now has "too wost teef" (actually we tried to get him to say hard things but he didn't sound any different!)

Let's see that four down and 16 more to go? The Toothe Fairy might need a loan.

2 Smart 3

(I had a reader who shall remain nameless that didn't understand the title. The concept was that my three year year old was too smart. Therefore she was a "Too Smart Three year old")

Scene: Mommy Lion sitting on the couch cutting out letters, in true OCD fashion, for her 3 year old daughter's class presents. Mommy Lion is much too involved to notice anything that Little Pumpkin is doing....

Little Pumpkin: Monmy, what's this?
Mommy Lion: I don't know....
Little Pumpkin: Mommy, what's it say?
Mommy Lion: I don't know...
Little Pumpkin: What's this say right here?
Mommy Lion: I don't know....
Little Pumpkin: Sound it out mommy...

Mommy Lion stopped cutting for just long enough to laugh at/with her daughter!

The Circus - Tonight's Main Attraction

Little Lion lost his tooth Saturday night. It made it a little difficult to eat one of his favorites...corn on the cob.

He still made it through three of these ears. I got excused from the dinner table for laughing at my struggling child and shooting corn out my nose when he tried to take his bites.

Not Knot Head

And 24 hours later!

Oh to be youthful again, resilient, and so quick to heal!

Knot Head

Little Pumpkin had a little "run in" last night with one of her buddies. Fortunately mommy lion was here so I couldn't be blamed!

It's nearly gone this morning!

She didn't want to put an ice pack on it, she was much too busy! Her friend Twinkie cried for a few minutes but had NO bumps!

I guess our Little Pumpkin isn't as hard headed as we thought!

And now for the pictures!

I know it's hard to tell, but they were just a little bit excited to find out that we were really staying at the hotel AND swimming too!

Even though there was probably a unethical amount of chlorine in the pool, we were swimming anyway! 3 times in our less than 24 hour stay in fact!

When we got to the concert MIKESCHAIR was already playing.

Little Pumpkin loved the music! "Let's dance!" I'll have to enroll her in dance classes next . . . don't tell Daddy Lion I told you, but neither one of us can dance!

Although it's hard to tell, I promise this is Newsong! Daddy Lion's favorite. They were hosting the concert!

Next up Mommy Lion's fav . . . NEWSBOYS!!! You can never get too much. This was the first time I've seen them since Michael Tait joined them. Not too bad! *grin*

We left during intermission so we missed out on Tenth Avenue North and a few others, but we didn't want to torture the kids more than we needed too. And for just $10 we really got our money's worth!

Sunday am we woke up to SNOW!!! CRAZY, the first day of spring and it was snowing! So, the kids went swimming! Love indoor pools. We did brave the frigid weather for some shopping at the boardwalk then headed home for AWANAS.

At lunch; Little Pumpkin loves to be as close to brother as physically possible. Still haven't figured out if it is sincerity or devious. Probably depends on the day or moment. She was being sweet here, despite Little Lion's facial expression!

WooHoo! One of us!

Oh, yes! This is the look we are getting more frequently than we'd like! Here she is playing.

And notice she couldn't even finish her sprinkled candied apple! One wiped out little girl!

Great memories! Time to go pick them up from school. Little Pumpkin's Easter egg hunt up next.

Monday, March 29, 2010

You know it's been a long time when . . .

The page no longer comes up automatically in my recently viewed pages! Well, I will say this, I have no excuse! *grin*

Spring break has come and gone. We had a great week of laid back activities. And ended the week with a quick one night getaway. The kids were so surprised and loved the indoor pool! I promise to get pictures up once Daddy Lion figures out what is wrong with all my USB ports.

Our days just seem to get filled with the busy-ness of life. I can't imagine how crazy life gets once we start extra-curricular activities! Speaking of which, Little Pumpkin did start a gymnastics class! It's so cute and she grins from ear to ear the entire time. We go on Wednesdays after BSF, so we are already in town and it doesn't take up another day or make another trip into that side of town!

Little Lion loves school while he's there. If you ask him, though he'll say he doesn't like it! He just doesn't like doing his homework! Or feeling like he's missing out on the "fun" Little Pumpkin is having.

It may be after Easter before I get pics up because after today life gets real crazy! Tomorrow starts off the first of many egg hunts. Little Pumpkin's is in the am at her pre-school. Wed. is normal BSF & gymnastics. Thursday is super crazy with a field trip to the Discovery Science Place with Little Pumpkin's school and rushing back to make it to Little Lion's school for his egg hunt/Easter party.

Thankfully Friday is no school and no work so we can relax. Until we surprise Blake with a Toby Mac concert in the evening! *smile* That will be fun. Saturday is our church's big Easter Celebration with egg hunt and more!

Hopefully when I return, I'll have all the pics to prove my stories! *wink*

Don't give up on me just yet!

So not what we were thinking!

Okay, we are already couch potatoes just 6 hours into having satellite. (not really, but can see where it could be addictive) Daddy Lion and I are watching Iron Chef, when Little Lion comes out of his room from "rest time." He plops down on the couch in reverse so as his eyes don't leave the TV.

The announcer says it's a battle of the bald chefs and one the the chefs says "I'm bald?" The announcer moves on telling what they are doing with what: "The sous chef is putting a rub on the pork butt."

Little Lion breaks out laughing . . . Daddy Lion and I look at each other; that moment of 'what do we do/say?' since we don't use the word butt. Then Little Lion says "That's so funny, that guy didn't know he was bald!"

I almost wet my pants laughing!

SNOW!!!

So yesterday the snow started falling early morning. After school the combination of snow/slush there wasn't much to play with, but the kids had fun anyway!

The biggest accumulation was in Daddy Lion's truck! They loved it.

Look at those giddy faces! Much better than the last time we saw snow here and they both cried for the few minutes I was just trying to take a picture of them in it!
Check this snow ball out!

Then Daddy Lion awoke to this (we slept in because school was delayed 2 hours).

FIVE inches! WOW.

Then the call came and school is closed! WOO HOO!!!

She giggled the whole way down!

We headed up the street to play with our friends! Somehow I was the only one to find the water hole! Better me than Little Pumpkin!

Done with Pictures ready to PLAY!!!

Well at least I have proof it snowed! Happy snow day everyone! Enjoy it while it last; it won't be long! *wink*

Blake's Favorite Things from today:

  1. A guy tooting in another guy’s face.
  2. The basketball exploded with confetti.
  3. Eating lunch in the church kitchen.
  4. A Lunchable for snack/dinner.
  5. Having Sam and Rachel ride with us.
  6. Holding Rachel’s hand.
  7. Having chocolate doughnut with sprinkles & chocolate milk for breakfast.
  8. AWANA store.
  9. A guy’s clothes came off while running.
  10. The mascot put girl hair on and took off his clothes.
No need to worry; they went to a Harlem Globetrotters event today!

Globie the mascot!

The Globetrotters doing some "cool moves" as Blake put it.

This little girl is an acquaintance of ours. Daddy Lion got some great video of the Globetrotters messing with her mom too! *wink*

The obligatory group shot: Rachel, Blake and Sam! (Poor Ben got sick at church so Rachel went in his place!)
